Bush Safari Walk

Half Day Tour / Greater Kruger Area

Includes: Services of a professional guide. Min 2 people to Max 6 guests per walk. Subject to availability and should be booked in advance.

Depart from lodge same time as morning game drive. Approx. a 3 Hour duration.

Experience the African bush in its purest form with a guided Bush Safari Walk — an immersive safari experience that allows guests to slow down, reconnect with nature, and explore the wilderness on foot.

At Imagine Africa Luxury Tented Camp, we believe that some of the most meaningful safari moments can happen beyond the vehicle. A walking safari offers a completely different perspective of the bush — one that is intimate, sensory, and deeply connected to the natural world.

Led by highly experienced professional trails guide Megan Smith, guests are invited to discover the smaller details often missed on a traditional game drive — from animal tracks and bird calls to medicinal plants, insects, and the fascinating signs of the wild.

With more than 20 years of guiding experience across the Sabi Sands, Kruger National Park, and Botswana’s Okavango Delta, Megan brings an incredible depth of knowledge, passion, and field expertise to every walk.

What to Expect

Unlike a traditional safari, a walking safari transforms guests from observers into participants within the environment. Every track, sound, scent, and movement becomes part of the experience.

A strong focus of the walk includes the interpretation of track and sign identification:

  • What animal was here?
  • How long ago?
  • Which direction did it move?
  • What behaviour can be identified?

Following fresh tracks through the bush and potentially locating the animal on foot is one of the most rewarding and exciting aspects of the experience.

For birding enthusiasts, Megan is also a qualified SKS (Special Knowledge and Skills) Bird Guide, with qualifications across all South African biomes. Her passion for the birds of the Lowveld region makes this experience particularly special for keen birders and photographers.

A Different Kind of Safari

A bush walk is not about ticking off sightings — it is about slowing down, becoming present, and developing a deeper appreciation for the wilderness.

From learning about tracks and ecosystems to experiencing the bush at ground level, this experience offers guests a more authentic and personal connection to Africa.

Whether you are an experienced safari traveller or visiting the bush for the first time, a guided walking safari is an unforgettable addition to your stay.
